Rebecca Joey Schwab
Comedian & Entrepreneur
Meet Rebecca
I’m Rebecca Joey Schwab, a Chicago-based comedian born in Skokie, known for being the most Jewish person you know—full of mitzvahs and madness. I’m a thirty-something Jewess entrepreneur, very single and somewhat self-sufficient. I’m dramatic, blunt, unapologetically honest, and truly not much different on stage than in real life. My mom is less than thrilled that I use my real name on stage.
I produce and host Chutzpah in the Chi, a monthly comedy show for Jews and allies, moving nomadically through the city and suburbs of Chicago. I’m always creating spaces for Jewish joy in a world that’s growing increasingly hateful, and I refuse to let the antisemites win. I have a severe case of persecution syndrome, but no stage fright.
In addition to comedy, I’m the Executive Director and Founder of ChiTribe, a nonprofit organization strengthening Jewish life in Chicago.
I’m also the owner of Kvell Factor, LLC, a digital marketing company that amplifies comedy and Jewish organizations—my two favorite things. I’ve got a growing social media presence, so follow me on Instagram at @RebeccaJoeySchwab.
Some people call me the "Queen of Jewish Chicago," but I prefer CEO.
